MAR Chart Audits is a feature within the Interactive EMAR module that enables authorised users to review and sign-off completed medication administrations.

Getting Started

To use MAR Chart Audits, the client must have completed medication tasks visible within the Interactive eMAR module. Only completed medication tasks can be audited.

Performing an Audit

Audits can be completed in two ways:

  • On an individual medication administration basis

  • As a bulk audit for a selected date range.

Individual Medication Audit

To audit a single medication administration record you need to:

  • Select a completed medication administration record within the MAR chart (Audits cannot be performed on incomplete or future tasks)

  • Within the MAR status tab in the window, navigate to the Audit section

  • Select the Audit Now button

Here you will be prompted to assign one of the following outcomes: Pass or Fail. You may also add supporting notes where required. Once these changes have been confirmed the platform will update the medication record to reflect the audit outcome.

Bulk Medication Audit

To perform a bulk audit select a date at the top of the MAR Chart (ensure completed, unaudited tasks are present). This will open the Bulk Sign-off window.

The platform will display a summary detailing the number of unaudited completed medication tasks up to and including the selected date. You can select an outcome and leave note if required, similar to before and confirm the changes. Upon completion, all eligible unaudited completions will be updated with the selected audit status.

Notes:

  • Bulk sign-off applies only to the selected month

  • Completions from previous months are not included

  • A single audit status must be applied to all detected completions within the bulk process (mixed outcomes are not supported)

Editing or Removing an Audit status

To amend an existing audit:

  • Select the relevant medication completion to option the additional information window

  • Within the MAR Status tab, navigate to the Audit Status section and select the three dot menu

You will have two options:

  • Edit – Change the assigned audit outcome

  • Remove – Remove the audit status entirely, returning the medication instance to an unaudited state
