Service areas allow you to manage the areas that your branches, or carers cover. These can either be controlled at a team level, or for an individual carer and work within the capacity planning to help assess potential new packages.

Carer service areas

The carers service areas are used to manage where individual carers are set to work. To add a carer service area, head to a carer's record and click into the service areas tab.

You will be shown a map with the option to add a new service area. It will highlight the carer's home address and will show any service areas already entered for the carer.

When you select add new service area, you will have one of two options:

  • Enter a postcode - Enter the first half of a postcode to automatically select an area for the carer to work

  • Create a polygon by clicking various points on the map to create the service area. You will need to make sure that the shape is closed and there are no un-connected points

When the area is selected, you can then name the area and select the transport type that the carer will use within it. You will be able to see a map of the area selected in dark green,

Buffer

You can also enter a buffer to the service area, if a carer usually works within a set area, but can stretch to cover areas just outside you can enter a buffer to the area set. Select the toggle and enter the distance you want to add as a buffer in km. This area will show in red outside of the service area selected.

Team service areas

The team service areas are set up in almost the exact same way as the carer service areas. You will need to access these from Tools β†’ Capacity β†’ Team Service Areas. You can add the area using the same method as above. Rather than adding in a transport type, you only need to select the team that this area will apply to. You will be able to see all team service areas on the map to reduce the chance of accidental overlap.
