More often than not, your staff will have certain days that they're expected to work. Setting up their work pattern and min/max hours helps your coordinators understand how many hours they should be giving to certain carers, and when they've been given too many.

Setting up work patterns

To set up a work pattern, head to Settings > Employees > Work patterns. Click the + button to begin creating a new pattern.

You need to name the work pattern so you can assign it to a carer later on, you can also provide a description if necessary.

Is this a rotating work pattern?

A rotating pattern is one that will vary from week to week. As an example, if you alternate weekends on/off then you might wish to use the rotating work pattern for this. This will allow you to set the hours for specific days.

If the hours are either set for the same days each week, or if the hours are not set for specific days, then there is no need to create a rotating pattern.

Hours

Here you can enter the number of hours expected for each day of the week, and set the minimum or maximum hours for the week.

If you have a rotating work pattern then you can enter the specific hours for each day for each week.

Assigning a work pattern

To assign a work pattern to a carer, head to their carer record and select 'Work Patterns'. Select the work pattern from the dropdown menu and set the start date. You can optionally enter an end date if relevant. Click 'Add' to save it.

Once the pattern has been added, you can amend the start date as well as being able to add the end date. You can also add a restriction to prevent a carer being allocated more than their weekly hours. Finally, you can assign the pattern to a specific contract. This means that the work pattern will only apply to work on that contract.
