A dedicated workflow for the administering of PRN medication

Getting Started

To use PRN within the Carer Companion App, the client must have at least one PRN medication assigned to their profile. Prior to scheduling a booking, ensure that PRN medications have been correctly configured within the Medication section under the Medical tab of the client profile. PRN Medication

PRN medications are accessible via the Tasks menu within a booking in the app. Navigate to the As Required section to view all PRN medications assigned to the client.

To administer a PRN medication, select the relevant entry and record a completion in the same manner as other tasks. All relevant information will be presented to the carer including:

· Type

· Route

· Dosage

· Minimum interval between doses

· Maximum number of doses

Where applicable, details of recent administrations will also be displayed to support safe and informed decision making.

Warning Messages

If insufficient time has elapsed between doses or the maximum dosage has been reached within the defined time period, a warning will be displayed to the carer within the individual PRN card. This warning will include contextual information explaining why is has been triggered.

Carers retain the ability to administer the PRN medication even when a warning is present. However, they will be required to acknowledge a separate warning screen before completing the PRN task.
